"We have enjoyed great success with our winter training camps for the past few years. We regret that for 2015 we will be unable to properly schedule the appropriate number or coaches and support staff to make the camps safe, enjoyable  cycling experiences.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and hope to have our training camps back for 2016."

Girona, Spain Cycling Trip 2015

Postponed until 2016

We have gone to Spain 2 years before and we will be going back this year in 2015!  If you would like to ride where the pros live and train, then this camp is for you.  Everyday you will see world tour starters out riding with their respective teams.  We might even get to have coffee with some of the Canadian stars of cycling.  Mike Barry and Dom Rollin had coffee and rode with us in 2012 and then last year the group bumped into Ryder Hesjedal out on a training ride. This trip will not disappoint, start planning today!

Details to come -- Contact us for more info at

Located in the Catalonia province of Spain, Girona boasts some of the best riding in the world. Trip dates are March 2nd - March 16th.  Come for 1 week, 2 weeks or anything in between.

The Catelonia region is one of the premier cycling destinations in the world.  The region boasts some of the best climbing in Europe.  You will tackle some of the most famous climbs in the region (Roca Corba, St. Hilary, Els Angels).  Girona is close to all these amazing climbs.  It is no surprise that this area is the training ground for many professional teams and home to Canada's own Michael Barry of team SKY and Dominique Rollin of Francaise des Jeux.  You will stay in one of the most beautiful villas in Girona located right in the middle of the old town or you can opt for a more affordable hotel package.  The hotel is located just across the canal and is a great stepping off point to explore the city or to begin a ride into the country side.

We will ride together as a group most days but if necessary we can offer different ride options each day to cater to different levels of cycling ability or if you'd prefer to explore on your own some days.  Catalonia has some of the most beautiful well-kept roads you'll ever ride. The quiet country roads and mountain valleys offer unlimited route options.

The camp will cater to all abilities of cyclists, from those new to the sport right through to those training to race.  A training camp for many riders, is simply a great excuse to ride in a sunny warm destination while snow blankets more familiar routes at home.  We will ride where the pros ride and most likely see many of the local pros.  Afterwards you can put your legs up and enjoy the same kind of rest and relaxation the pros enjoy or get out an explore Girona and the surrounding towns.

Spain also boasts some great food and wine and you will have ample opportunities to experience all the region has to offer. This region of the world  rivals France and Italy for outstanding vintages and gastronomic experiences.  Girona has many great restaurants that you can explore.  We can show you our favorites too.

Come for 1 week, both weeks, or something in between!

Getting There & Back

Our Villa is located in the old town of Girona, Spain in the Catalan province.  Girona is 115km from the Barcelona International airport.  Most major airlines fly into Barcelona.  Girona also has an airport with daily flights from the U.K.  It is possible to fly into Girona but based on our research it is not easy to do from Canada (especially if you are traveling with your bike).  Door to door transport from the Barceloan airport can be arranged or you can arrange your own transport to the villa or hotel.  We can provide you more information. Rental cars can be obtained at the airport but there is no parking available at the villa.  There is free overnight parking available in Girona but not in the old town.  The parking is fairly close to the hotel.

The Riding

The area we will be riding in is fairly hilly (sometimes mountainous).  We are south of the Pyrenees so the area we will be in could be considered the foothills of the Pyrenees.  The roads are generally in excellent condition and there is no shortage of quiet roads.  While we will avoid busy roads as much as possible however we will have to deal with the traffic when leaving or returning to Girona.  The drivers in the region are extremely respectful of cyclists.  While Girona itself might initially seem chaotic, you will quickly realize that you're safer on the busy roads in Girona then just about anywhere you've ever ridden.  We will be averaging close to 100km per day (with options to do more or less).  All the rides will be led by one of our coaches and/or have sag support. You should however be self-sufficient while on the road just in case.  Helmets are mandatory.  We will have basic tools and a floor pump.  Please bring extra tubes.  There is a great bike shop in Girona.

Bike Rentals

If you wish to rent a bike rather than bring your own, please contact us as early as possible.  The bike shop in Girona rents Cannondale Supersix carbon road bikes with Shimano 105.  The booking form has an area where you can fill in your bike measurements if you wish to rent. We can make all the arrangements for you. Cost for a one week rental is 125$   You will need your own pedals.  Bringing your own seat is also a good idea.

The Villa is located in the old town of Girona on an enclosed lot.  It has 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and 2 kitchens.  There is free wireless as well as satellite TV.

What's Included

The Weather

March is still winter, however Girona is home to so many pro cyclists because you can ride outdoors year round.  Early March the average daily highs are 15-20 degree Celsius.  Our rides will generally leave around 10am to avoid the cooler part of the day.  You can expect to start your rides with a vest or light jacket and end the ride with the vest or jacket in your jersey pocket (or the sag wagon).  Lightweight booties or toe covers would also make the first hour of the ride more enjoyable. Rainfall this time of year is minimal but a possibility.

Fitness level

We can accommodate a wide range of cycling abilities. You should be comfortable riding up to 2 hours on our longer days.  We will be doing some climbing so please ensure your bicycle has adequate gearing for your ability.  Recommending minimum gearing is as follows: Experienced  - 39/25, Intermediate  - 39/28, Beginner - 34/28.

What to Bring
